Friday was cyber crop night at Scrap Pile. Our theme was "Christmas In July" with lots of fun challenges.
My challenge was to create a set of 4 Christmas cards based on sketches I'd made, they are my first attempt at making a sketch.
I purposely made these cards standard size, flat & simple to make it quick & cheap to make a lot of them & also so they can be sent in the mail at the reduced Christmas postal rate...too much lumpy, bumpy will them more expensive.
Here are my example cards.
I've used Crate paper & diecuts & American Crafts rub ons.
...And here are the sketches-
Here's another card I made recently for my sweet little grand daughter's 2nd birthday. She loves The Wiggles & it was the theme for her party.
This cyber crop was the last one for my fellow design team member, Melanie. It is very sad to have her leave & I just want to say thank you & well done to her for all the great work she has done & for the support & help she's given me. You will be very missed Melanie.

CPS Sketch #74
Another fabulous sketch over at CPS this week. I've made a deal with myself to try to have a go with every sketch as I enjoy them heaps & it gets me trying new things all the time.
So this is my take on #74. I've used Crate Paper & rubons, perfect for a little boy.
Thank you for all the well wishes, they worked a treat, I'm happy to say that my back is all better & I've learnt my lesson & won't be lugging around heavy things again, LOL.

Melissa's Sketch
Well I've been a bit quiet of late due to a very sore back. I was silly & tried to move some things that were just way too heavy for little ol me & my back objected quite strongly.
Sitting down is pretty painful so I haven't even been able to drown my sorrows in some creativity, that's the worse part for sure. Where there's a will, there's a way but, & one of my very favourite designers, Melissa Philips, has an awesome sketch on her blog that I just can't not play along with. So I made this card standing at the kitchen bench today, LOL I should have made a Get Well card really, shouldn't I?
I've used My Mind's Eye papers, the scallop is cut from some MM Noteworthy paper, the scallop chipboard oval is Maya Road & I used a Stampin Up birthday stamp.
Now I must get this back better before Friday as we are having our July Cyber Crop over at Scrap Pile. The theme is Christmas in July so I've got a Christmas card challenge organised if you'd like to come & join in. It can never be too early to get a start on those Christmas cards.

More of July Projects
As promised here are the cards that I made with the second kit that Melanie chose for me. Remember I said they couldn't be more different from each other....this one is so girly & sweet.
I always need lots of little girl cards for all the parties DD gets invited too, so these will come in handy for sure.
This kit included papers from the Cloud 9 "Brittany's Castle" range & some gorgeous Queen & Co felt ribbon plus a cute little Lizzie Anne ballerina stamp.
The first 2 I've used the stamp on. This first one I stamped the image a second time onto the patterned paper, cut out the dress & tiara, then glued them over the original stamped image.
The second one I've coloured with normal pencils & framed it with a Maya Road scalloped chipboard oval, which I painted & then coated with Glossy Accents & added some rhinestones.
For the last one I cut the circles out with my Cricut machine & added some felt & bling.

July DT Projects
This month the design team girls chose the kits for each other. Melanie & I chose for each other & I must say, it was a little nerve wracking trying to decide on products for someone else.
The first kit I received included some Creative Imaginations "Asian Fusion" papers. I did find them a bit challenging at first but once I got started I really enjoyed working with them. They have such lovely rich colours & a large foiled motif on each sheet.
This first card uses the large Chinese symbol motif from one of the papers. I made the card from transparency then adhered the paper to the inside front cover & then placed a square of the other paper to the inside back cover. I've swiped the edges of the transparency with black paint & added some mesh, which I love the look of.
The red paper had this beautiful foiled dragon motif on it but it was a little too large for a card.
I decided to make a wall canvas with it instead. I covered the canvas with the green striped paper then placed the dragon piece over it. The black vinyl lace is Christina Ree, I found that in Melbourne while on holiday.
This card uses both papers & I've added a Prima journalling note & some Green Tara flowers, a 7Gypsies rub on & some gorgeous Maya Road velvet ricrac.
The cardstock Melanie sent was Coredinations. I haven't used it before but I love how it can be sanded back to reveal some of the core colour. Adds a really interesting touch.
The second kit couldn't be any more different but I'll be back with those soon.
Thanks for stopping by :)

Another Great Challenge
Gee I'm having fun with challenges lately.
One of my favourite designers, Danielle Flanders, has a wonderful challenge on her blog. I loved the sketch so much that I just couldn't resist making a card from it.
Here is my take on the sketch....
All the papers are from the Office Lingo range by Pink Paislee.
Thanks for a great challenge Danielle :)

Caardvarks Think Pink Challenge
Caardvarks are running a great challenge at the moment which is to make a "Pink" card and they are giving away a yummy prize of some Pink Persimmon stamps.
I thought I'd have a go so this is the card I've made.
I've used lots of Making Memories Noteworthy on this & the chip letters are Lil Davis.

Monthly Card Challenge
It's that time again.....today I posted the new monthly card challenge for July, over at Scrap Pile.
This month's challenge is to create a card using the colours red & blue & also include a bird of any kind.
Here's my example....
I've used Cosmo Cricket paper & a My Minds Eye journaling card.
Why not have a go this month & join in the fun....there's a prize, as usual, for the winner.
Head over to the forum for all the details. I'd love to see lots of gorgeous cards.
